COVID-19 Precautions

Since 2020, Ḵunéix̱ Hídi Northern Light United Church has followed the guidance provided by the denominations, the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control, and the State of Alaska to ensure that we provide a safe and healthy environment for church life. In 2021, the Council established a Worship and Building Use Task Force to develop a church policy and practice based on the best evidence and information available.
The COVID 19 BE SAFE Plan was adopted in July, 2021, to guide how worship and church activities are held so that we protect the health and safety of participants. Since then, the Church Council has updated the Be Safe Plan based on the Task Force’s recommendations.
Ḵunéix̱ Hídi Northern Light United Church COVID 19 BE SAFE Plan (effective March 1, 2023)
Ḵunéix̱ Hídi Northern Light United Church (KHNLUC) has suspended all previous versions of the COVID 19 BE SAFE Plan. We are committed to providing a welcoming and meaningful worship service both in person and through Zoom to allow worshippers to choose the option that works best for them.
Effective March 1, 2023, KHNLUC no longer requires worshippers to wear masks or maintain social distance. Masks and social distancing are welcomed and encouraged by any individual at each person’s option. We ask that any person who is ill or has symptoms of a respiratory illness to please stay home and worship online.
In the event of a resurgence of COVID-19 or other significant respiratory illnesses, KHNLUC will follow guidance provided by the City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ), the State of Alaska, or the CDC regarding capacity, social-distancing, masking, and other mitigation strategies.
