Rev. Dr. Charles Ensminger is an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church, a teacher, and writer. Dr. Ensminger has served in the United Methodist Church as a pastor for 22 years and has a special interest in church growth, education, and the in-depth study of scripture. KHNLUC welcomed Dr. Ensminger as Pastor in July 2023.

Dr. Ensminger received his Bachelor’s Degree in Religion from Tennessee Wesleyan. He went on to earn a Masters of Divinity and Masters of Arts degrees in New Testament Studies from Drew Theological School and a Doctorate of Ministry from Methodist Theological School in Ohio. Dr. Ensminger has been an adjunct Professor of Religion at Tennessee Wesleyan for 20 years, teaching “Introduction to the Bible,” “Paul and His Writings,” “Introduction to the Christian Faith,” and other classes.

Dr. Ensminger is the author of three books: Crafting the Sermon: A Beginner’s Guide to Preaching, Saturday Faith: Moving Through the Crisis of Hopelessness, and From Advent to Ascension: A Journey with the Christ. He has contributed articles to Circuit Rider and to The Journal of Higher Criticism, and authored a chapter to the book Now What?  A Guide to the Gifts and Challenges of Aging from Front Edge Publishing.
